French photographer Patrick Wack was born in Cannes (France) in 1979 and grew up in the suburbs of Paris.
After a career in sports and studies in economics that took him to the US and Sweden, he left a job in Berlin
to pursue in China a passion for photography, and hopes of a less ordinary life. Fully self-taught, he worked
from 2006 to 2017 as a Shanghai-based freelance photographer in the fields of editorial and commercial
photography. He also focuses on long-term personal projects mixing the traditional documentary approach
with a more subjective and contemplative storytelling.
He has published in Time magazine, The New York Times, Geo France, The Sunday Times, The Monocle,
Vanity Fair, Courrier International, Le Monde, Libération, Nat Geo China, Forbes, Travel & Leisure among others.
Among other awards, he was a PDN Photo Annual winner and Bourse du Talent laureate in 2018, has received
1st Prize at the KL Photo Awards in 2014 and is one of the two 2019 laureates of the Albert-Kahn Museum grant.
His work has been exhibited in solo shows in the USA, Germany, France, China and Singapore and featured at
festivals such as the Promenades Photographiques in Vendôme (France), the OFF-festival in Bratislava (Slovakia),
Les Nuits de Pierrevert (France), Les Boutographies in Montpellier (France), Itinéraires de Photographes
Voyageurs in Bordeaux (France), screened at Visa pour l'Image in Perpignan (France) and exhibited at the BNF
National Library in Paris.
His commercial clients include : Louis Vuitton, Omega, Cartier, Adidas, The North Face, Nike, Finnair, Suez
Environment, Cathay Pacific, Sanofi-Aventis, Volkswagen Group, Allianz, Bentley, Hermes, Shangri-La Group,
L’Oreal, Thales Group, IKEA, Max Planck Institute and Suez Environment.
He is fluent in French, English, German and proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
